SiLA Member
Lab-of-the-Future Technology
Applied Scientific Technologies (AST) are delighted to announce we will become an observing member of SiLA, the future for Industry 4.0 standards in laboratory automation. This partnership will allow AST to progress within the lab automation industry and we hope contribute to the wider development and adoption of SiLA.
SiLA (Standardisation in Lab Automation) enables Lab-of-the-Future technology through free and open communication protocols and data standards. This helps to future proof lab equipment by enabling end-to-end integration with lab instruments and allowing them to connect to each other are share data more seamlessly.
AST have become a participating and active member of SiLA as they are passionate about the development of new robotics and laboratory automation and see the wider adoption of SiLA as a means to grow our own business and work with SiLA compliant lab equipment from whatever source with the adoption of the SiLA 2 communication protocol in all AST products.
“We are inspired by and aspire to support the wider objective of the SiLA organisation that is to facilitate scientific innovation by providing common ground for device communication and data exchange. We have adopted the SiLA 2 communication protocol into our newly launched DEFT digital laboratory toolkit (Digital Enabled Formulation Toolkit) specifically designed to integrate, control and digitalise all communication and data exchange between any bench lab equipment, including legacy equipment, into a digital, wireless network” Quote by Dr Dale Charlton, Applied Scientific Applications Director.
“We are very happy to welcome AST to the SiLA community. Formulation is an important area for many lab users. The use of SiLA within DEFT will open up new possibilities. AST brings much valuable experience and we look forwards to further productive interaction” - Quote by Dr. Patrick Courtney, Member of the SiLA Board of Directors.
