‘Hyve’ is a unique concept design in laboratory and life science autonomous robotic systems.  The award winning modular and scalable intelligent collaborative robot platform enables clients to design, develop, manage and deliver a solution meeting their initial requirements.  

‘Hyve’ can be changed, adapted and redeployed easily as requirements change due to its modular construction, consisting of a base system with plug in modules.  This is particularly favourable for those in an R&D environment where changing research demands necessitate a flexible research platform.

Moreover, the Hyve user interface (UI) on the robot is a multilingual, touch screen configured with ease of use in mind. The interface is more akin to navigating an iPad app than needing a qualified software professional to change the code.  The Hyve control software sits within Siemens WinCC OA which means it is SIL3 according to IEC61508, ISA-88, GMP, FDA compliant and ISO 9001 certified.

The use of collaborative robotics makes the system more of a robotic scientist than a typical machine that would require operators with esoteric scientific knowledge to run.  Additionally, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies future proofs the system to address changing market demands and expectations.

The Hyve software has been written with our clients in mind, ensuring it is user friendly and easily reconfigurable. This allows our clients to adapt the machine configuration to suit their ongoing needs. For example, if regulatory or end user requirements were to dictate that a particular process on the Hyve platform be replaced by an alternate process then the modular design ensures that the interface and control can easily be modified with no need to edit source code.

Hyve, like the Deft product also offered by AST, is SiLA 2 compatible meaning that if our clients develop a formulation using Deft, Hyve can digitally import the Deft formulation directly to its processes.
